A Day in Barri Gotic

By Ronnie David at 2010-07-07 04:29:25

Barri Gotic is the heart of Barcelona in addition to being the oldest parts that the provinces have. The barrio has some great monuments and museums and you can have a great time by spending a single day at Barri Gotic. It's easy to cover all the parts of city in a single day.

You can simply start with simply walking along the Portal de l'Angel. This wide walkway starting from Plaza de Catalunya is a nice place to see and also being seen during an evening paseo or evening walk. While the streets in town remain busy throughout the day but they come alive during early evenings as locals and tourists get together and take a stroll near restaurants and shops while they are on their way for drinks or dinner.

The cathedral Sagrada Familia which is present in L'Eixample district is the famous Spanish architect's masterpiece which he could not complete. You can watch the cathedral from outside and experience some marvelous architecture. Visit to Barcelona is considered incomplete without visit to this cathedral.

After watching the cathedral you can straightaway heads to the Plaza de Sant Jaume. You just need to follow the tiny streets that are present around the cathedral and you will eventually reach the plaza. The plaza has a number of Catalon government buildings which were made very long ago, somewhere around 2000 years back.

Calle Ferran is a hip place to stroll around. The street that leads from the south eastern side of Sant Jaume Plaza, is a boisterous pedestrian walkway. This walkway leads you to Rambla - a place that is lined with a number of shops that sell souvenirs, leather goods and a number of keepsakes like FC Barcelona jerseys. If you want to carry souvenirs to home, the place is perfect to spend your money.

You can also stop over the Plaza Reial. A number of bars and restaurants that have open air dining arrangements and outdoor tables will make your evening charming. Inside the plaza, you will site some lamps that have originally being designed by the young Antoni Gaudi.

Visit to this town can be quite captivating. It is recommended that you hire a car so that you can draw maximum out of the destination in a single day.
